Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

The North Oak Church of Christ is a family of Christians for people like you. Whether you are struggling, just making it or flying high. Whether you are single, married or divorced; loud, shy or somewhere in between, we are a diverse church that would love to welcome you.
We love our God; we're saved by His Son and filled with His Spirit. We believe the Bible is God’s final revelation to the world until He comes again. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant guide for our lives today.
If you visit us you may see a couple of things that are different to you. Our singing is “a cappella” (without instruments). We believe this encourages greater participation and helps us to focus on the words we are singing. We partake of the Lord's Supper every Sunday. This reminds us of the great price that Jesus paid so that we could be saved from our sins. As our guest we want you to be comfortable and welcome. We won't put you on the spot and embarrass you. We invite you to fully participate in our worship service or just observe.

Our Purpose

We believe that God has an eternal purpose for each and every member of the Body of Christ. God's eternal purpose for the church is revealed in the Ephesian letter where God's purpose is, "To the praise of His Glory" (Ephesians 1:6,12,14). God's eternal purpose for us as individuals members of His Body are two fold. First, "God wants all people to come to the knowledge of the Truth and be saved" (1 Timothy 2:4). Second, "We are to be conformed into the likeness of Christ" (Romans 8:29).

Our Love For One Another

We believe that just as everyone needs a physical home and a family, we also need a spiritual home where we are cared for and loved just as deeply. Through the love of Christ that dwells within us, we strive to make the North Oak Church of Christ that kind of a home. We are a Body of Christians who join together to worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:23). We aim to encourage, edify, and build up one another in worship and service to the Lord. Coming together is a beginning, staying together is a progress, working together is a success.

Our Commitment

We at the North Oak Church of Christ are committed to the pattern teachings laid out for us in the New Testament. We inspire to trust and follow God's Word as final and total authority. Our Faith and Hope lies in the unshakable promises in God's Eternal Word. Our commitment is to live our lives in such a way as Paul states in 2 Corinthians 3:2-4. To do this we must set aside time each day to meditate on God's Word and devote ourselves to the power of prayer.
